Who could be a better running partner than a pooch? They offer constant moral support, are devoted and just “doggone” awesome. It is important to know your partner’s strengths and weaknesses in order to prevent them from ever sustaining an injury and increasing the years they will be able to tag along. Many dog owners aren’t aware that the size of their pet is a determining factor on how old their pup will be able to run. Larger dogs often cannot run as long of distances after age seven. Smaller breeds can run consistent distances until around age ten. Another key factor to pay attention to is the possible development of sores on the pads of a dog’s feet. This is often the result of a dog exerting itself for too long and or not allowing them to “warm-up” the same way a runner would. Make sure to avoid these “pawblematic” situations in order to enjoy your favorite running trail with your favorite running partner for years to come. #Woof #PullmanTailsOnTrails
